Emmett ID sophomore Landon Helms, representing Stacy Dragila Vault Club, cleared a lifetime-best 16-10 (5.13m) on his third attempt to place third in the boys high school elite competition at the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit at Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center. Helms, who improved to No. 2 all-time indoors in state history, tied Bradley Jelmert of Watchung Hills Regional NJ, who took second based on a first-attempt clearance at 16-10. Helms improved from a 12th-place finish with a 13-4 clearance in the fifth flight last year.
