Katerina Stefanidi, an adidas professional athlete representing Greece and the 2016 Olympic women's pole vault gold medalist as well as the 2017 World champion, discusses returning to the Dempsey Indoor facility in Seattle for the first time since 2013 to compete at the Washington Indoor Invitational. The Dempsey was also the site of the first collegiate competition for Stefanidi in 2009 representing Stanford, where she was coached by Toby Stevenson, now the pole vault and multi-event coach at Washington. Stefanidi, 33, reflects on having success in the sport at a young age in Greece and watching current Washington freshmen twin sisters Amanda Moll and Hana Moll experience similar success as teenagers. Stefanidi vaulted against Hana Moll, 18, on Jan. 12 in the women's elite competition at the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev.
